The research area "Empirical School Research" is dedicated to the level of individual schools within the education system. This involves researching individual school development and innovation processes as well as the conditions for the success of sustainable anchoring of innovations.
The role of (inter-)professional co-operation between teachers or the establishment of communities of practice (co-operation between science and practice) in these processes are of particular interest.
The professionalisation of (prospective) teachers is also taken into consideration, especially with regard to the fit or the mutual linking of theoretical knowledge with practical action.
The research area thus focuses on topics relating to school development and teacher professionalisation, which are driven by the desire to create good, high-quality educational opportunities for all pupils.
